Third generation serving on Camps

4th Apr 2022

The privilege of sharing the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with children and teenagers through Crusaders / Urban Saints has been enjoyed by three generations of the Hunt family, to date.

"I feel privileged and grateful to be a third-generation Urban Saint sharing the Good News of Jesus..."

"My late grandfather, Dr Robert Hunt OBE, and my father, Philip Hunt, were both involved in Crusader Groups in North West London. During ‘Remember November’ in 2020 where Urban Saints drew attention to some of their ‘most committed and inspiring volunteers through the years’ on social media, Robert was described as ‘Leader at Sidcup, Harrow, Pinner and Northwood Hills, and Chairman of General Committee. A man of unlimited energy, insight, innovation and grace.’ - How generous!

His youngest son, Philip, attended Crusaders first as a young boy, then as a teenager, then Leader in Northwood and later led holidays abroad. Even in recent years, both he and Grandpa continued to wear their Crusader pin badges! My siblings and I all attended Urban Saints summer camps as children and teenagers; I think I was 8 at my first camp. Each year at camp my desire to follow Christ was revitalised. In 2018-19, whilst studying at the University of Reading, I enjoyed volunteering with a new Urban Saints Group at Reading College. I was keen to be involved in summer camps and in 2021 was delighted to be part of the team of Leaders at Chattabox in Studland, for 8-11-year olds.

I feel privileged and grateful to be a third-generation Urban Saint sharing
the Good News of Jesus with children, 53 years after Grandpa first became Chairman and about 88 years since he first attended Crusaders as a boy!

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19 NIV)"
