Praying together on the Journey

24th Mar 2022

Tomorrow (Friday 25th) we launch two events, both drawing people from across Urban Saints together as one. 24/2 Prayer is our latest 48 hours of prayer for the movement and for young people, while Our Big Journey is an opportunity for Groups, volunteers and supporters to do something together locally as part of a larger event across the whole of Urban Saints.

24/2 Prayer sees people from across Urban Saints signing up for one or more hour-long prayer slots over the weekend to form an unbroken chain of prayer. Everyone prays where they are and in whatever way they feel led, but we've created a series of interactive prayer spaces and other resources to help focus and inspire the prayers of these supporters. The creative prayer spaces are hosted on Energize and cover the main ministry areas of Urban Saints as well as resources for those taking part in Our Big Journey and a space for young people to explore the theme of identity.

Even with less than 12 hours to go, it's not too late to sign up for an hour.

Resources to help you pray

Previous 48 hours of prayer have concluded with an online prayer gathering all together. However, this time the 24/2 Prayer coincides with Our Big Journey. Groups of young people, volunteers, supporters and team are taking on different Journeys over the weekend. These Journeys vary in location, length, terrain and even mode of transport (although they are all self-powered!) but they are all symbolic of our desire to journey with young people and to do so together as a movement, rather than just random groups scattered all around the UK and Ireland.

We've got groups journeying along different coastlines around the UK, as well as several different Urban Saints Groups, Leaders, volunteers and team members coming together to journey in South London, the Midlands, Hertfordshire and Northern Ireland. A group from the Urban Saints team are retracing the steps of our founder Albert Kestin, travelling from a park in North London to our main offices in Luton, while another Journey will visit the Westbrook Centre on the Isle of Wight. There's even an Urban Saints Group canoeing up a canal in Wales, staying overnight to really up the adventure levels.

Prayer will feature in most of the Journeys but one of the Groups is also looking to take on some social action on the way too - taking on a beach clean as they travel together. Each Journey will look and feel different but the key thing is that they are all happening together over the same weekend and they reinforce our commitment to journeying with young people as they explore faith and grow in confidence and gifting.

You can follow their progress online - best way to do this is to join the Facebook group mentioned - and keep an eye out for plans for more Journeys next year too.
