Westbrook bedrooms and borders update

2nd Aug 2021

Back in February we launched our Bedrooms and Borders appeal to help raise funds for maintenance and upgrade work at Urban Saints Westbrook.

Six months on and we would like to share an update on the appeal and what has been achieved through your generous donations. Jo Baynham, Westbrook Centre Manager, has written the following update:

“Thank you for contributing to a really successful campaign! We’re pleased to say that we raised over £30,000, almost tripling what we expected. You have all been so kind! This money has really allowed us to make the best of the Covid-19 fallow period.

“With your kind donations we have been able to complete four en suite teachers’ rooms to a really high standard and entirely redecorate the dunny. I am pleased to report that we have appointed a contractor to the strengthening of our border and that this has priced so well that we have been able to add to the fencing contract some additional field-draining works, the completion of our outdoor classroom, some new paths and the removal of stumps near the air raid shelter entrance (with a view to making it usable soon).

“As such by the end of the summer, both grounds and house internals will have made a huge leap forward. Thanks to you all."

We are thrilled that after many months Westbrook has been able to reopen this summer and welcome guests once again. Several school groups were able to visit before the end of the summer term, making the most of the activities available, as have other youth groups and Summer Camps.
