On March 8th, Urban Saints marked the annual International Women's Day by turning our social media channels over to some inspiring women involved in the movement. Our Midlands Director, Sara, introduces the "takeover".
International Women’s Day purposefully presents us with an opportunity to pause and reflect on the various challenges women have endured in the past, celebrate all the progress that has been made to date, rejoice in the successes of other women and boldly press on, advocating for continued opportunities. It is a day dedicated to remembering the trailblazers who have gone before us and sacrificially given something of themselves to break down gender barriers and change the lives of women today.
This year the theme is #BeBoldForChange and we are being encouraged step forth and champion bold and radical action that will accelerate gender equality. Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to praise, bless and honour the amazing women who make a difference in the lives of others. Women who, regardless of their social status, age or ethnicity, stand together in a unique and powerful demonstration of empowerment and unity. Scholars, academics, professionals, students, mothers, daughters, sisters; every day women who want to encourage and engender change.
